On Saturday evening March 1st, 2008 look for history to be made once again at the Kick Down when Louise Johnson makes her professional MMA debut against Shalee Shannon. The 48th installment of the Kick Down will make history in the state of Colorado when the two women mentioned will be the main event . The Kick Down long known for it's support of Women in combat sports will once again showcase a main event where the female combatants will headline the show. Louise Johnson will turn professional after a successful amateur campaign in MMA where she captured the Women' s Bantom weight title in December 2007. Her opponent is considered to be a good striker and a muay thai stylist also making her professional debut. Brett Shafer will fight in the promotion once again where he will face Brian Cristina who returns after being absent for several months.
The Kick Down is known for the place to start in the rocky mountain region and move on to other fight promotions in other regions. The 48th show for the promotion will offically mark the beginning of their 7th year in operation which started in February 2002. The fight card will feature 2 modified muay thai bouts including another women's bout between Dia Csay and Lavida Givan. Prentice Ingram will challenge lightweight champion Jeff Brokx in modified muay thai and try to become the 2nd fighter in the promotions history to hold 2 different titles in two different styles of fighting. Ingram is the current light weight MMA champ. An evening scheduled for up to 12 bouts will have fighters in just about every weight class and feature at least 2 title bouts.
