The WEC fights were pretty good, did not get to see Cerrone but sound like he dominated. Was really impressed by Beebe, his fight with Yahya was a great one to watch

CERRONE TESTS POSITIVE FOR DIURETIC AT WEC 30

Full story at mmaweekly.com

Mixed martial artist Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone failed his post-fight drug test at last week's WEC event, according to the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

Cerrone tested positive for Hydrochlorothiazide, which is a diuretic that can be used by athletes to assist in weight-cutting by impeding the kidney's water-retaining capabilities. It can also be used to treat medical conditions such as high blood pressure and congestive heart failure.

Diuretics such as Hydrochlorothiazide are banned by athletic commissions, primarily due to the medical risks of excessive weight-cutting. Many mixed martial artists, even without the use of diuretics, routinely cut large amounts of weight in very short periods of time prior to official weigh-ins.

CERRONE'S VICTORY OVERTURNED BY NSAC

from mmaweekly

Donald Cerrone, who tested positive for the diuretic Hydrochlorothiazide following his win over Kenneth Alexander on Sept. 5, was suspended for eight months and fined $2,400 on Tuesday by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

His victory over Alexander was also changed to a No Contest. He becomes the second mixed martial artist in Nevada, following Nick Diaz, to have a victory overturned.

The fight was Cerrone’s debut for the World Extreme Cagefighting promotion.

He indicated to MMAWeekly that he had taken the diuretic to help clean the toxins out of his system following a bout with staph infection, which also resulted in a case of shingles.

Cerrone said, “I just want to get past this and move on... get back to training and come back stronger and better.”
