... don't take this as an attack, because I know people who do this and I tell them the same thing, but schedualing fights less then 30 days apart is not only bad for promoters, but for fans. Lets say, god forbid, something happens to Luke, cut, bone break, or the commish find out he was KO, then that fight is sratched. Fans who pay tickets maybe to want to specificly see that rematch now have to not see that fight. Also Jose, who is training specificily for Luke then has to be manned with another opponent on short notice, or his fight gets pulled. |

... I agree with Mike on this one. The promoters are the ones that would suffer. Either through tickets sales if a fight pulls out or through a poor card. I personally don't see a problem with it for the fact that fights also cancel or drop out on the fighters as well. If you train really hard and then your fight pulls out at the last minute. You're stuck! You don't have another fight for 30 days. All that training to just sit there and watch the show. For the professionals that is why there are contracts. I know that most contracts have a stipulation that once signed you cannot take a fight before the contract is fulfilled. On the other hand, the fighter still gets paid if the fight doesn't come off like it was supposed to. |

All things being equal, would you stay with a job or company that was paying you less if you didn't have a contract with them. I know for a fact you would not. Contracts were created to help both parties. If none were signed then the fighter is "on the market" so to speak. |
