I want to say congratulations to both Vernon Garner and Joe Kaderli for their wins this evening. They were the 1st two MMA bouts on the card and they both represented the Defense Institute well.

This is also the first win for Sensei Rob Graff as a coach. Congratulations to you as well, your hard work with Joe has paid off.

When you see these two guys give them your best.

On an overall note. The Kickdown was great. Steve Alley does a great job as always. Congratulations to Pete Vandervort (NHBpirana) for becoming the first fighter to ever be inducted into the Kickdown Hall of Fame. There was a special presentation for him and he always has a banner to be flown at the Kickdowns.

All the fighters looked great. Congratulations to all the winners.

As always I wanted to thank everyone involved in the Kick Down on Friday evening. Many thanks to all of the fighters and those that helped make the event a success. Kind of a strange night but everyone seemed to like it. Congratulations to everyone. My personal thanks to MMA BUZZ for becoming and continuing to be a great site for MMA in this region and around the world. Good to have you there as always Mike. Good luck to everyone tonight in Pueblo. Steve Alley-Kick Down Promoter.

Once again a great Kickdown last night. Pete Vandervort's send off was really touching. It's cool to see how much respect a promoter and a fighter can have for each other. And really cool to see Steve started the Kickdown Hall of Fame.

Also, big congrats to Vernon Garner and Joe Kaberli on their wins. Good to see some fellow Defense Institute guys doing their thing.

Mike

sounds like there was some controversy with the main event.

That was a weird thing the main event last night. For like 3 and a half minutes eric beat the crap out of bryant. Then finally bryant got up and to me i thought that erics hands were off the ground when he took those knees to the head. Then he turned to complain to somebody and got caught with some punches THEN the ref steps in and seperates them. If the ref thought the knees were bad why did he wait so long to stop it?? And if the ref dont step in you surely dont look away from your opponent to complain about it...really weird but i thought the result was fair he was given five minutes and agreed to go on. The controversy to me was what the hell took that ref so long if he saw those "ILLEGAL" knees to stop it? Good fights over all tho with some crazy finishes

Gotta agree with ya Nathan...saw a fan shot video of the main event after the fight...appears Eric was clearly not in a "4 point stance", and up on his feet when the alleged illegal knees were landed. Also ref stopped fight for blows to back of the head?, not evident in the video I saw. Then was told by commisioner that there were knees? Wasn't the ref right there? Also no one forced Eric back out into the ring after the 5 mins. I see it as a hard fought battle by both fighters and the fighter won.

man, what a card!! Congrats to all the fighters on putting on the best kickdown yet. Lost a lot of respect for the refs and eric heinz after this one though. Since when do you run to a corner and complain to someone in the middle of the fight? And when does a ref get talked into taking a point away for something other than what he interrupted the fight for? We all know that eric is part of the kickdown promotion, but the ref didn't have to be so obvious that he wanted him to win. The only saving grace for this promotion is steve kelly. he made sure to clarify that the knees were legal and that the true fighter won! defend yourself at all times, i believe is what one ref said in wyoming. But congrats to the winner!

Thanks jakeness and all the other non byist people who saw what really happened on sat. night.I don't feel i need to go into any detail cuz its already been done, but i will say that yes i know the refs and the promotion are separete bodies everything was done to keep me from winnig that fight.I've seen the video and so will the rest of you non believers the knees are clean and the punches are to the side of the head. The ref didn't even see the knees.Plus all eric had to do was say "I'm done" and I would have been dq'ed.Thanks again to steve for the awesome oppurtunity and all the rest of you who are ready to see a new kickdown champ. My two cents on the final bout. Everything happened so fast it's hard to tell WHAT happened. I thought the head shots looked clean to me. I thought it was the punches to the side of the head that razzled Eric. I couldn't see the knees from my angle. The ref did the best job he could. Obviously things happen so fast in MMA that it's hard to really know where the blows landed until you see the video.

Big props to Craven for withstanding some serious GnP from Heinz to make the comeback and win the fight. You showed a lot of perseverance man, nice work. And big props to Heinz for coming back and finishing the fight. You both are warriors and I look forward to seeing you both back in the ring soon.

Craven, good job on the fight, I am friends with Eric, and I have to say, you showed up and did what it took to win, if he was out of shape, tired, gased or anything like that it happens, no one to blame but himself. You took advantage of the oppurtunity and deserved the win. CONGRATS!! Congrats to you as well Nathan, looked like you had a good fight, first time I have seen you fight, also good luck in your next fight, and if you get past Anthony hopefully Steve will give me a chance to fight for your belt. Either way, Congrats to all winners, and hope all is well in training and in life.

Salley - sorry about the shoulder. Hope it rehabs OK and you can get back soon.

Pete V - a class act. Hate to see you go. Hope you'll stick around the game and teach some of the younger fighters your class and professionalism.

I've reviewed the footage and it shows that Eric was down when he recieved the illegal shots. There was a kick to the face, then a knee to the chin, and punches to the back of the head. The shots weren't really bad but...

I was wondering if that was going to come out or not. I thought I saw it on the replay that night but I couldn't be sure. Thanks Shannon for clearing that up. Too bad Eric decided to continue and subsequently got beat.

To tell ya all why I kept fighting!!! I would have never wanted to win by D'Q ever!! I did know that the kick and the knees and the punches were wrong and hay things happen, I was not all there, BUT when am I. hehe!! I just did not aprove of the Ref in this fight MMA is fast and you do need to take action right away.. If I would have not kept fighting I would have asked for a no contest instead of the win REALLY!!! We will just have to wait and see what happens from here.. Thanks to all and have a greatttttttttttttttttt day!!
