This will be a test of new market area and demographic for the Kick Down promotion as the Fat City facility is a 144,000 square foot center which features a 20 lane bowling alley, miniature golf,kids games and arcades, and a skating rink which they convert into an event center. It is located at Coal Mine Road and Kipling and if full it would seat close to 3000. We love the Red Lion and it's intimate setting and convenience but the people at Fat City actually made contact with us and after close to 5 months of hearing their requests we decided to try it out. The fight card will be good and there are now 8 screens with which to view the event as it is happening. Other than the location the show will be much the same. Honors for Pro, Amateur, and Womens fighter of the year in the Kick Down will be awarded as we close out 6 years in the business. ... I'm not sure what the deal is but the female fighters (kickboxing and mma) have definitely stepped up their game recently. I've been very impressed with the female fights I've seen recently (including Dia's last fight versus Blanchard). Lookin forward to seeing a lot more down the road. |

They can fight and it does go away from the stereotype that women that fight are not attractive because these and many others look good, they are intelligent, and they can fight. The formula for having women fight has always worked for the Kick Down promotion and it will continue. Did I mention how much I like the comments on the board here. I rather see a chick who isn't super hot who knows how to fight, rather then some chick who thinks she can fight and is hot, get her ass kicked. I mean if they are both fine, but just how everyone was talking to that Daneill chick after and before her fight was really annoying, and something i hope local MMa fans can get over doing. ... anyone 130 to 140 am or pro. Prefer amatuer as Louise is 3-1 but of those victories only 1 has a winning record of 2-0 and that is her only defeat. Fighter would have to have bloodwork and so on. Like I said before I have never publicly requested help with a fight but with the women it is much different..............hard to find. |

... Since we are STILL having server issues I will post here. Many thanks to ALL that were part of the Kick Down 45 show last night. Got a little ugly with the horrible weather but the show would have been worthy to have had several thousand there instead of a few hundred. What an incredible night. 11 bouts 5 went to decision and the two fights of the night were Louise Johnson who was basically getting dominated right up until the 2:24 mark of R3 and sunk in a slick triangle and won the 1st ever womens MMA title at the Kick Down. Nathan Gates and Prentice Ingram duked it out and it was Ingram who won a unan dec and became the new LW am Kick Down champion with 3 spinning side kicks that were some of the best timed and placed seen in a long time-awesome. Brynat Craven retained his Welterweight Pro title belt with a 1st round victory over Max Smith. Congratulations to ALL of the fighters and thanks to the fans.
