... Much appreciation to Eric and the folks at DI. never a bad word for a first class operation. It is unfortunate that the fight was not promoted well. I promissed the DMD guys ( Drew and Josh) will be in top shape and they are. They busted there asses conditioning and training. I am proud of them. As well to any fighter with the courage to step into the cage or the ring. It takes moxy to step in there and do this s**t. Kudos ....... Also a shout out to Dan from DMD and good luck on the 18th. |

... "We over here at The Defense Institute are looking forward to Drew and all the DMD guys fighting. I guess everything else is "ACTION PACKED CAGE FIGHTS." ......" Thanks for the support Eric. I understand its a tight spot for you. but never the less it just shows the level of respect that everyone has for the "FIGHTERS" no matter what promotion. I can only say that I hope that more than 150 people show up... not for the fact of having cash in the promoters pocket but only for the fighters themselves. I for one love to give a good show to the crowd. Its hard to do that when no one cares. And if you are a fighter or a trainer you will know that. Regardless, Josh Kirby and Drew Knapp are ready to step onto the battlefield. Leave everything we have on the mats and never look back. that alone should make you want to come and support us. Dan A. is looking very dangerous. MY PLANS: Beat a guy up on the 17th, go out to our after party, get pretty happy...wake up and go watch our brothers smash some people, go to the after party and get happy.........get some rest................START TRAINING FOR THE NEXT VICTIM........ |

... Drew: I hope for the sake of the fighters that there are more than a 150 people. If my original comment came off as disrespectful to you, your guys, or any other fighters, I APOLOGIZE! That was not my intent. My only motive is to bring the recognition to the fighters that they deserve. The majority of fighters bust their asses to learn the skills and get in shape to fight. I believe fighting is one of the hardest types of competition in the world. I've seen guys that can run marathons all day long, then do one, 2 minute round of sparring and they are dead. This is not something that ever one can do and you guys need to be treated like celebrities, not just a random card of "action packed cage bouts” That’s why I'm writing this. Back in the early 90's, local fights used to be run this way. No hype and no recognition for the fighters, "Just come out and see this card, I guarantee you will be impressed" They never were! People would come out and see a show with a lot of mismatched fights and piss poor production. Back then, the fighters were just there as fodder for the promoter to try and make a buck. They would be replaced if they asked for anything more than the bare minimum. The fight cards were hardly ever released for fear that they, the promoters, would be held accountable. I'm seeing that same trend going on for the 17th. A group of people out for only themselves and their own self promotion. They have proven time and time again that they don't care about the very people that give them the ability to promote themselves, THE FIGHTERS! As fighters, you should be recognized city/state wide. The Pharmacist at the drug store should be coming up to you weeks before the fight wishing you luck. I just hate to put money in the pocket of people that don’t give two s**ts about the fighters. The same people that don’t want to let anyone know who is fighting on their card. Surprises should be left for birthday parties, not fight cards. For what it’s worth though. I will try to make it to the auditorium. If you need a corner just ask and I’ll definitely be there. However, after this rant they might not let me in. To all the fighters "GOOD LUCK, EVERYONE AT THE DEFENSE INSTITUTE ARE ROOTING FOR YOU!" |

... Eric, great post! Your passion for fighter recognition is felt as well as read. I don't see where anyone could possibly get that you are not supportive of the fighters in your previous post. I agree the fighters work hard and are deserving of some press. And we know friends and those who know the fighters would like to see it as well. I thionk you are right on the money and as a community we need to always be watching out for the fighters as they are what this is really about. |

... As someone who was around and participated in what will be now forever known as the "fodder fights of the 90's" I agree wholeheartedly with you Eric! My band of brothers at DMD always look to put on a show as I have in the past and will continue to do so myself. From hula skirts to conch shells, I always represent, who i am where im from, and beleive in the 1 second longer credo! woohoo, bruthas, WHAT IS YOUR OCCUPATION! War! War war! good luck DMD! |

... Thanks Drew. You guys stuck in there big time. You and Josh and the young up and coming fighters that subjected themselves to the functional conditioning are all studs! When your hands are held high in victory it will be worth all the hard ass work. And hungry for the next one. I promise you all will be in even better shape for the next one. |

... Eric I doubt a card will be posted..... Here are some facts Josh has a different fight than we were originally told. Doing some last min research now to adjust for fight styles. All we know is he is a tall guy. Fought last NME and lost due to strikes in the third. did some searches by name nothing. so J is fighting Tyson Vigil. Drews guy is the same but the original main event is not the main event. Didn't get the scoop. lol. So there it is in a nut shell. Our plan is still the same . Go in and get the job done but it is unfortunate the way this rolled out in my humble opinion. |

... One thing that sucks about this is that when you are a fighter and get offered a fight the first thing you do is research the guy find out his record, how he gets his wins, how he has lost and how long he has been fighting.... after doing this for like 3 days straight you plan out your schedule accordingly and train to beat that person and that person specifically (is that spelled right) ????? The worst thing that could happen is at the last minute they change your opponent to somebody you dont even know so then the night before your fight your frantically trying to figure out what type of fighter you are going to fight against cause you know damn well a real fighter will never back down from a fight especially if they have been training thier butts off.. the last couple of days before a fight the fighter should be able to relax get thier heads straight and knock off those last few pounds if needed... Regardless of what some people/promoters might think, this really could mess with a fighters head.... Knowing josh I know he will still do great tonight and I feel will come out on top but this should have never happened to him... If this is going to continue to happen set up each fight with a back up fighter and say hey if either of you cant fight this will be the guy that fills in.... I mean the promoter cant help what happens with weight and scared fighters who run out or just cant fight but for some reason this always happens the last minute for the no mercy card... For the no mercy promoters you guys continue to have issues with your cards i suggest going through all the comment posted about your events see what the people want especially the fighters and fix it learn from your mistakes and grow... i like that your teaming up with rmbb the next show, keith usually puts on a good card.. |
