Show "random" notes:

  • Good job to Jeff, Will, Ron, and Keith of Premiere Fighting Championship. For a first show they really put on a nice show that was matched up well and had plenty of ‘extras' to entertain the crowd.
  • This was the first show I've been to with two women's MMA fights on the card. It's nice to see the females putting a stake in the ground. It's also nice to see women with great technical skill. Alicia Gumm looks right at home when the fight goes to the ground. I guess when your coach/husband is UFC veteran Brad Gumm it makes it a little easier.
  • PFC brought plenty of pyro techniques out for this show. I nearly fell out of my seat twice when these things went off unexpectedly.
  • With this win Camozzi has set himself up for the November 10th matchup with Donnie Liles (Toolshed). I for one think this has a ‘fight of the year' potential. Both fighters have very similar styles and both fighters are tough as nails.
  • Seth Bergman of Colorado Brazilian Jiu Jitsu pointed out after his fight that if the phone rings, and it's a promoter, and they have a fight for you, and that fight is vs. a Colorado BJJ guy, well, get prepared for a long night in the ring. I'll second him. Colorado BJJ is run by David Ruiz and has produced some great fighters; Mike Nickels is just one of them.
  • I think this show had a 1:1 ratio of fighters to ring card girls. Seemed like everywhere you looked there was a ring card girl staring right back at you.
  • My runner up for Fight of the Night went to Chino Montoya vs. Lamumba Sayers. Both fighters ‘left it on the ring.' I thought for sure Chino was going to go down when Lamumba hit him square on the chin, TWICE! But, Chino just kept coming at him and got a nice take down and took care of Lamumba with some nice ground and pound and eventually lead to a submission.
  • One fighter that I was really impressed with was Douglas Lima. Whenever I hear that George Ransom is managing a fighter I pay close attention to that fighter. George has a great eye for MMA talent, and Lima is one of them. I'm not sure where Lima is from, but I'd love to watch this guys career unfold.
  • Uncle Nasty and Bumpy Johnson shared the MC duties for the night. They did a great job of keeping the crowd in the fights.

This was PCF's first show and they definitely delivered. A great card with some stellar fight matchups, pyrotechnics, plenty of title fights, and a slew of big name fighters (Babalu, Junior Assuncao, Thomas Denny, Donnie Liles, and a few others.)

Looking forward to their next show.

The Main event went as I figured

nice win for Cammozzi

Cruz won, great, to bad we never saw him against Cammozzi *cough cough*

Looks like Lumba is exposed now

Eric Fagyas needed to go pro like yesterday

To bad for ROn, he's a nice dude.

Sounds like a great card happened.

"Looks like Lumba is exposed now"

Huh? Why would you say that? That was a great fight for both Lamumba and Chino. Lamumba landed a couple solid shots to Chino's chin, but Chino just kept coming. Both fighters got a lot of heart and this is one I'd love to see again down the road. This fight was my runner up for fight of the night.

well because he comes on here talking himself up to be the next best thing sense MMA it self, people have pointed out his weakness on the ground, and in his cardio.

He finally faced someone who could take his punches, and who kept coming, someone who TESTED him, and look what happened.

I not trash talking the dude, but when he, and promoters advertice him as being the next hot thing because of three quick amatuer wins, they are going to bring attention to themselves, and thus when they lose, they have been exposed as not being what they try to throw as an image of themselves.

and what i said shouln't be taken as an insult, every fighter has stuff to work on, but with more attention, and more hype, comes more critisim to fix aspects of a fighters game.

respect for putting in on the line and what not, I just think every promoter is this state shoudl let fighters grow with out having the spot light on them, expecailly with pro fighters on the card.

The Fagyas-Corona fight was very one sided, thus a 30-27 from all the judges. Fagyas came out on fire and got an immediate take down. I thought it was going to be over quickly, but Corona showed a lot of heart and determination. I kept waiting for Fagyas to stick in a RNC or get a win by ground and pound, but Corona defended his back well, and just refused to get beaten. I saw Corona walking around after the fight with something over his eye, not sure what was up with that.

BTW man in all seriousness, it is time for Eric to be pro. No ifs and or buts about it. I know I am not his coach or anything, but what's this dude's record now, 13-1?

don't worry htk187 I think we are all whipped on this site.

Also, I've gotten asked about show photos. I guess there is a new rule where the boxing commission only allows 2 media photographers per show, unfortunately MMABuzz was not one of them.

I'm sorry I couldn't get photos from this show buy hopefully people let me get photos for everyone at the next shows.

The only person I have heard Lumumba talk up was Jesus.
For the record it was 4 amatuer wins.

Congrats to the promoters for bringing in Chino who did take the shots and choke Lumumba out. Chino handled himself like a pro in out of the ring on Saturday. I look forward to watching him perform again.

Please continue to monitor Lumumba's skills/cardio as he gets in more than 3 months training.

One thing I don't think you can question is his spirit. He broke a rib in the first minute of the bout. He did not complain or look for an easy way out. He just took his loss like a man.

I can really see it both ways in regards to Eric Faygas. Once you turn Pro, you can't take it back. 13-1 is not that many fights in the big scheme of things. Most of those fights are local, and I agree with you that he has definitely outgrown the local scene.

There are a lot of places that he could travel to and compete as an amateur. You can never have too much experience.

I'm sure he will make his decision when he feels it is right to do so.

Lumumba Sawyers showed a lot of heart, and despite previous injury and countless warnings from Fam and Friends, he still went out there and did what he does best and thats do everything to the best of his ability and thank God for every loss and win. Both fighters suffered injuries and both fighters walked out like champs. I think Lumumba's true ground technique hasn't been displayed but with two fractured ribs, that's hard to do. I can't wait for the rematch, I look forward to the same skill and energy coming from both fighters. I don't even want a KO or TKO I want all rounds judges score the bout so we can see both fighters full technique displayed. Shout out to team Blessed and RMBB. See you at the next show!

1st let me say that I like Lumumba. Good fella I enjoy talking with him and think he is a goood fighter. But please DO NOT whine or complain about previous injury. Most fighters who have more than a week in the game are fighting with injury. When you step into the ring with a known injury you relinquish the right to use or complain of those injuries. You obviously thought you could win with the injury or you would not step to the challange. This is not directed at Lumumba specificly. Just my thoughts
