QOTW: MMABuzz Content and Photos
qotw.jpg

This week’s question of the week is more of a topic of the week. And that topic is MMABuzz.com Content and Photos. I’ve run into some issues recently with people posting the content and photos of this site on their own site without citing the source and/or getting permission from MMABuzz. I’ve also had inquires from people who wanted to buy some of the photos on this site.

So, that brings me to this week’s ‘topic’; what are the “rules” as far as the MMABuzz.com content and photos are concerned?

1. Content and photos must be granted permission by MMABuzz.com before being posted on another site. This includes all write-ups regardless of who has written them.
2. Photos are free of use to the fighter in the photo and promoters of that particular show. If you are not the fighter photographed or it was not your show please contact me for permission to use the photo or the charge rates to use that photo in your publication.

This site was built for the local MMA community and will continue to support the local fighters and promoters. If you would like to use the content, photos, or videos for your own use please contact the site and we can work out some sort of agreement.

This site works hard. Usually after a show there are an additional 5-10+ hours of editing involved with the writing, photos, and videos. I just ask you respect our time and hard work.

Mike: I run into this a lot with my other site MrReception.com. I take articles from other sites and I tweak them for posting on my site.

However I don't get permission to use them because most site administrators are not like you. Finding out who runs them is a chore and if you do find out, you are unable to get in touch with them.

What I am animate about doing is giving credit back to the site by listing where I got it and a link to that spot and "you can read the original article by clicking here."

We've had this discussion before between us and I think that others need to follow the stated wishes of the administrator. Maybe you could make a button or a footer that explains how you would like that handled.

Yeah, I hear ya. I figured the COPYRIGHT on the bottom of the page is good enough, but maybe I need to have some a little bit easier to find and read.
