RMBB: Young Gunz: FULL RESULTS
Article written by J.R. Gordon, lead writer for martialartsradio.com

The popularity of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is increasing exponentially.  World wide, and especially for Colorado fans.  Three of the top promoters in the state have all been moving to bigger venues.  The Kick Down had a show at the Budweiser event center, the Ring of Fire moved into the Broomfield event center and the May 19, 2007, The Rocky Mountain Bad Boyz show held their event in the bigger venue of Fat City in Littleton Colorado.

It was announced at the event that the first all female MMA card in the history of the state will take place July 28, 2007, at the Holiday Inn event center at I-70 and Chambers.  Call (720) 404-0250 for Ticket Information.

On hand at the event was local standout fighter Stephen Zeytunyan letting the crowd know that he will be competing in boxing in a Golden Gloves tournament. If he fares well he plans to try for a spot on the Olympic team eventually wanting to get a berth on the team that will represent the United States at the Olympics in Beijing China in 2008.

Now to the action.

Bout one: Geoff Brokx Vs Titus Holmes.  This was a Modified Muay Thai rules bout.  Each fighter started off with good kicks, then each was able to stun the other with strong punches.  Holmes ended round one with a good leg sweep.  Round two saw Holmes getting knocked down by a strong overhand right from Brokx, and although Holmes was able to get to his feet the referee called a stop to the bout at 1:17 of round two giving the TKO win to Brokx.

Bout two: Robert Martinez Vs Roy Elliot.  Elliot got an early takedown and worked some Ground-and-Pound (GNP) as Martinez was busy with submission attempts from the bottom.  Martinez was able to secure a sweep and from full mount he began his own relentless GNP attack and the referee stepped in and stopped the bout giving Martinez the win at 2:10 because of unanswered strikes.

Bout three: Sam Farrell Vs Kyle Davis.  Farrell used punches followed up by a leg kick to set up a takedown into side control.  Once on the ground Farrell worked GNP, attempted Rear-Naked-Chokes (RNC) and positional dominance to control the first round.  Round two saw Davis come out well and he dropped Farrell with a punch.  On the ground Farrell got dominant position and worked more GNP for the end of the second round.  Round three was controlled by Farrell on the ground after he landed several hard body kicks while standing.  Davis showed good guard work, but in the end the judges gave the win to Farrell with an unanimous decision.

Bout four: Brian Long Vs Joaquin Baca.  Baca scored in round one with several takedowns and some GNP while Long had an attempted guillotine choke.  Round two was good action from both fighters on the ground with Long scoring the initial takedown and Baca scoring with GNP and positional control.  Round three had Baca getting several more takedowns while Long scored with strong GNP and a nice sweep.  In the end the judges gave the win to Baca via an unanimous decision.

Bout five: Ryan McKee Vs Phil Bassignani.  Bassignani started off strong with his striking, then the combatants squared off and traded strikes with each landing shots that had the other staggered.  Bassignani briefly had standing back control, and after momentarily falling to their knees both scrambled back to standing.  The referee stopped the action to check a cut on the head of McKee.  The ringside doctor was called into the cage and he determined that a fight stoppage was warranted.  Bassignani got the win at 2:44 of round one.

Bout six: Will Robinson Vs Andrew Aldaco for the Rocky Mountain Bad Boyz 170 lb. amateur MMA title.  Both landed good strikes early and Robinson had the advantage after knocking Aldaco down.  On the canvas Adalco scrambled to top position and worked some GNP, but Robinson set in a fast and tight armbar that got him the submission victory at :58 of round one.

Bout seven: Patrick Jiner Vs Travis Shelton for the Rocky Mountain Bad Boyz 155 lb. amateur MMA title.  Shelton pressed forward early with strikes before eventually rushing forward to get the takedown.  Jiner used wrist control to avoid a RNC attempt on the ground, but Shelton reset it and got the submission victory at 2:35 of round one.

Bout eight: John Sargent Vs Brett Roller in a professional MMA bout.  Sargent clinched early and landed some body shots before trying to pull Roller into guard.  There were then several scrambles for dominant position, both on the ground and while standing.  Roller then got a takedown and from back control he was able to set in an RNC for the win at 1:24 of round one.

Bout nine: Max Smith Vs Ryan Peake.  Smith got a fast takedown and after working GNP that had Peake rolling face down Smith sunk in the RNC for the fast round one victory.

Bout 10: Mark Korzenowski Vs Angalo Duarte in a two round professional MMA bout.  Round one had Duarte getting the early takedown and the round was spent with him working GNP and defending several close submission attempts from the always active Korzenowski.  Round two was punctuated with good submission attempts and strong GNP attacks from both fighters.  There were frequent referee standups so the action rarely slowed.  The judges turned in their score cards and it was Duarte who got the win via a Majority decision.

Bout 11: Luke Holdorf Vs Jeremy Martinez for the Rocky Mountain Bad Boyz professional 155 lb. MMA title.  Holdorf's first technique was a head kick that landed clean and he followed it up by clinching and setting in a standing guillotine.  Holdorf fell back to guard and at :15 of round he got the choke cinched in and took the submission victory ant the title.
