Is Colorado the new hotbed for MMA? UFC comes, then the WFC, who's next?

Either way, pretty cool stuff.

This is the same WFC that has promoted in Colorado years before. They did one show in Denver and then a handfull of events at the Loveland Budweiser Event Center...they put on a pretty decent show.

is this the same event that put on Butter Bean vs Severn?

Kate said:

yup yup
March 07, 2008

ChrisZacher said:

gotcha..I think i watched that fight on the net, but I can't remember any of the details..oh well.
March 07, 2008

Kate said:

well butterbean/severn was *scheduled* to happen and then butterbean pulled because he got beat in a fight in japan like a week before the severn fight and broke his hand or something.. he attended the fight and took pics though..

Then some local guy stepped up and volunteered for a mauling.

March 07, 2008

MMAbuzz said:

speaking of maulings..you got 26 days before yours nasTY....
March 07, 2008

nasTY said:

what happens in 26 days, your other nut will drop so you'll have a set and can step up to fight me?

nasTY said:

OK, I remember, our rumble at the UFC fight night. How will I find you in the stands? Will you be sitting next to the guy all dressed in affliction gear. (Chris do they really make affliction man thongs?)
March 07, 2008

ChrisZacher said:

you can't handle the answer to that...
March 07, 2008

MMAbuzz said:

nasTy's pretty easy to spot. He looks like a cross between Barney Rubble and that dude from the movie Mask.
March 07, 2008

nasTY said:

Barney Rubble was the man- I look kinda like him but a bald version. Mike looks alot like cabbage :)

bad fight for Jeff Ford...
March 13, 2008

ChrisZacher said:

what fight hasn't been bad?
March 13, 2008

lei78 said:

i just see no way that ford can beat cabbage. dudes head is cement and fords standup looks a little outdated as seen in his fight with james funny and with erik paulson. not sure if his ground as improved enough to take out a b.j. penn trained cabbage
March 13, 2008

nasTY said:

I'd love to see Cabbage and Shonie fight but being the week after the UFC, have to see if I have any $$$ left
March 13, 2008

MMAbuzz said:

Cabbage reminds me of that Simpson's episode where Homer joins the circus as the 'guy who gets nailed by a cannon ball' over and over and over.

And yes I think Cabbage will take this one.
March 13, 2008

nasTY said:

Have never see anyone that could take a punch like cabage could- has anyone ever seen his ground game?
March 13, 2008

ChrisZacher said:

cabages ability to take a punch disapeared a while ago.
March 13, 2008

ChrisZacher said:

also his ground game is nothing specail, but we're talking about him fighting Jeff Ford here, so, well, I think we can do the math.
March 13, 2008

Beast said:

Never mind Cabbage and Ford...the true question is: has Shonie finally done away with the Man Panties? I would pay some money just to see him in normal shorts! LOL. And Chris, you sure do seem to make a lot of enemies here. Do you think you should pick a fight with nasTY when you've still gotta deal with me!! I'm also interested in hearing about Clark vs. Severn. Now that should be funny as hell. Dan should be pushin 50 by now, if not past it already!
March 13, 2008

ChrisZacher said:

man, why are we all fighting against each other, when we used to team up and fight against the ninjas. We need another common enemy! How about Shonnie Carters oversized nut cup?
March 13, 2008

nasTY said:

I don't know, it kind of scares me. Do you think he'll be wearing affliction man panties?
March 13, 2008

ChrisZacher said:

If he is, he is totally ripping off my style.
March 13, 2008

camozzi7 said:

do they have the rest of the card done yet? bad match ups for colorado i think.
March 13, 2008

Beast said:

I have to agree with Camozzi on this one. It's almost like, "Come see these legends of the Octagon beat on Colorado's finest!!!" But what I think would be humorous is if the CO fighters beat these guys. Much like Ken Shamrock and the nobody that beat him. As for Ninjas, Chris...I think we can come up with a common enemy... Starbucks. Overpriced froo-froo coffee drinks that we can barely pronounce, and they tend to turn one's guts inside out! Stand with me men, as we need to stop them at all costs!!! My fighter outfit will consist of Extreme Couture thongs! Oh yes. I'll be the first fighter to fight in them. I'm just trying to bring it back to the old Greek way as much as I can!!!
March 13, 2008

ChrisZacher said:

wah wah..you're lying to me Dan Severn is bring sexy franky murcery back!
March 13, 2008

nasTY said:

I agree with Camozzi but if you ever wanted a chance to beat one of these guys I guess it would be now. Would be cool to be able to say you beat dan severn, no one needs to know he was like 55 when it happened
March 13, 2008

Beast said:

Submission due to a broken hip!!!
March 13, 2008

nasTY said:

I think severn wears man panties too or maybe depends but I would never say that to his face. I'd get crushed by his old azz.
March 13, 2008

ChrisZacher said:

if he cought you..you remember his open palm strikes back in the day in Buffallo with ken shamrock? I remember screamin at my tv then. All becaus ethey thought they woudl get arrested if they fought closed handed. or how about Pride 1.
March 13, 2008

Beast said:

Dan Severn and man panties should not be in the same sentence. And Pride 1 was an event I am glad to have forgotten!
March 13, 2008

nasTY said:

Maybe Dan and Shonie could have a man-panty-off... or I mean the could fight to see who is the toughest guy in man panties and the loser would have to wear real shorts for the rest of their career...
March 13, 2008

ChrisZacher said:

damn, Nasty, that is pretty creative. And ebats, what do you mean? Dan vs kimos classic battle of 30 mins of circling and doing nothing was the bomb!!! er i mean..well honestly it sucked.
March 13, 2008

Jeff PCF said:

I agree on match ups. He could of employed our stars of tomorrow. Colorado is full of talent. Its almost like a Ozzy Concert, if you Don't see the show you might not see some of these fighters again.Ozzy Rules by the way.He didn't look well last time I seen him. Prices are reasonable. Colorado Altitude might play part.
March 13, 2008

Jeff PCF said:

Local promoters putting together under card. I assume it will be good under card. I will be there in support of our fighers.
March 13, 2008

Beast said:

Yeah...the Ozzy concert was cool. Ozzy is getting old. Damn that, he IS old. But, yeah...he still rules. As for the notion that they could've used better guys for this...I whole-heartedly agree. I can think of quite a few guys that would be a better fight for Dan Severn. As for Shonie and Cronk, I can't say anything as I've never seen Cronk fight. But...I think I could've been a good matchup for Severn. He shows up in the granny panties, and I'll be there with my E.C. Thong! A battle for the ages!!! OH YEAH!! i need more coffee...dear god!

JPonton said:

..and John Stover fought Tommy Morrison, and get hit by that guy one time, lol, he's no joke. He may have looked bad against Morrison, but lets put it this way... if you were going into a fight not knowing if this dude had AIDS or not, how would you be? Sure the WFC supplied him and his manager with stacks or papers saying he wasnt, but then soon after the fight, it popped up once again. I sure as hell wouldn't have ever taken that fight.
April 05, 2008

ChrisZacher said:

yup, and as a promoter I sure as hell would not of throw it either.
April 05, 2008

Dr. Alex said:

I think the problem is squarely in the hand of the state comission. I do not expect promoters to understand the intricacies of HIV Western Blot testing vs viral DNA PCR analysis etc...

The promotors job is to arrange good matches between licensed fighters. It is up to the state comission to decide who is or is no healthy enough to fight and in the case of HIV who is a risk to other fighters.
April 06, 2008

ChrisZacher said:

Yeah, but why do you think they threw that fight on a reservation?

They knew that s**t was very out of the orrdinary. there is no way they could of not.
April 06, 2008

ChrisZacher said:

and sense when has Tommy friggin Morrison been a good match up for any MMA fight?

Lets just all admit it, they threw togetehr a fight with a HIV infected washed up boxer to make some $.

also a pay per view is NOT when you sell your show on your website, its when you sell a show on that one channel...what is it called? oh yeah pay per view.

BTW some promoters just trip me out here.
April 09, 2008

ShannonBerry said:

The show was originally set to air on TV (pay-per-view). The company that was handling it dropped the ball. The internet PPV will be great! This is the biggest production I've done to date (including the FFC show I did at the Hard Rock in Vegas). It's already made money with pre-orders. Hopefully I'll be able to start doing regular MMA webcasts soon.
