Liddell hurt!!! from sherdog.com

Chuck Liddell (Pictures) has fallen off UFC's June 7 card in London, England, due to a badly torn hamstring, Sherdog.com confirmed Monday.

The 38-year-old Liddell (21-5) was set to fight Rashad Evans (Pictures), himself a replacement for Mauricio Rua (Pictures), at O2 Arena in the main event of UFC 85.

Multiple sources tell Sherdog.com that Sacramento, Calif.-based light heavyweight James Irvin (Pictures) could be the man to fill Liddell's large shoes, though the bout with Evans (11-0-1) has not been filled at this point.

Irvin (14-4-1) would make a quick turnaround following an eight-second knockout of Houston Alexander (Pictures) on April 2.

sucks- would have been a good fight- one I was looking forward to

According to the report, the UFC will improve the fight card in multiple ways in the wake of the withdrawal of one of the UFC's biggest stars. The organization will soon be announcing a new main event to replace Evans vs. Liddell, and will fill out the event with even more fights than normal -- a reported 13. This would give the card the most fights of any UFC event in the past 10 years.

In the report, UFC President Dana White went on record to reassure the fans, saying "We're adding fights to the card and rearranging it so the UK fans won't have to worry. We'll still be bringing an amazing card to London and the O2 Arena. The UFC always delivers."

For further details, including a nasty photo of Liddell's injured leg, check out the full report on UFC.com.

Before his own injury, Liddell was originally slated to face Mauricio "Shogun" Rua in the bout, but the former PRIDE star had to pull out himself due to a knee injury.

I think this is a big step up for Thiago and a good test. IF he's able to KO or submitt Hughes, then Hughes is in the dumps (look out Yamma)!

Re:UFC 85 6/14 1 Week, 6 Days ago
from mmajunkie.com

Just hours after the organization announced a UFC 85 main event of Matt Hughes vs. Thiago Alves, the UFC also confirmed a main-card bout between Chris Leben (18-4 MMA, 8-3 UFC) and Michael Bisping (15-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC).

MMAjunkie.com mentioned the possibility of the bout on Wednesday, and on Friday evening, the UFC made it official.

I hope leben crushes him!

I also hope leben crushed him, and i think he will. If you get loopy by a elvis sinosic and haynes punch, then leben is going to hit you so hard that you will rematch Matt Hammil.

Leben out

QUOTE:
UFC middleweight Chris Leben today was sentenced to 35 days of jail time (and credited for eight days' time served) following last week's arrest for a probation violation, according to a representative from Oregon's Clackamas County Sheriff's Office.

However, Leben's UFC 85 bout with Michael Bisping now appears unlikely to take place. The bout was set for the televised main card of the June 7 event.

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) could not immediately reach Leben's employer and friend, T. Jay Thompson, for comment. UFC officials have yet to comment on the matter.

Leben turned himself over to Oregon authorities last week. Leben moved to Hawaii in 2007 to serve as an instructor at Thompson's ICON Fitness facility, but his request to transfer his probation (stemming from a 2005 DUI arrest) was denied. Thompson told MMAjunkie.com last week that Leben decided to take the job anyway since he felt Hawaii would provide him the "fresh start" he needed.

A bench warrant was ultimately issued, and when Leben was added to London's UFC 85 fight card, he knew that getting a visa would require a resolution to the situation.

He turned himself into authorities on April 30 and was sentenced today. Once the jail time is served, Leben will no longer be on probation.

Last week Thompson told MMAjunkie.com that he and Leben were optimistic that no additional jail time would be issued and that they'd make the UFC 85 fight date.

Leben (18-4 MMA, 8-3 UFC), 27, most recently defeated Alessio Sakara in March at UFC 82. After Chuck Liddell was forced to pull out of a UFC 85 main-event bout with Rashad Evans, the UFC booked fights between Leben and Bisping, as well as Matt Hughes and Thiago Alves. The popular fighter found his way to the UFC via the first season of the UFC reality series, "The Ultimate Fighter."

(Update: According to Wrestling Observer, UFC matchmaker Joe Silva has confirmed that the Leben-Bisping bout has officially been postponed.)

Jason Day (Pictures) will fight Michael Bisping (Pictures) on June 7 in London, the Canadian middleweight told Sherdog.com Friday.

Chris Leben (Pictures) had been scheduled to face Bisping. However, Leben was sentenced Thursday to 35 days in jail.

Last week Leben turned himself in to authorities after violating the terms of his probation stemming from a DUI arrest in 2005. He was given credit Thursday for time served and his probation was revoked, but he will not be released until May 27 -- less than two weeks before UFC 85.
